I’ve never done this before. Where do I start?

With a simple phone call.  We will set up an appointment at the potential project site, take rough details and expectations of the project to formulate a preliminary estimate for your project. There is no fee for the initial consultation.

What do I need for the first meeting?

Your ideas, goals, and budget are a great start!  We request that you submit a detail explanation of the needs and property address.

I’ve had my initial consultation, now what?

Paragon will define the scope of the work as discussed and create a quote based on the discussions. Typically, you should receive the quote 1 week or sooner after the initial consultation.

How does Paragon know what to quote without having a complete design plan

We will assess the project as presented in discussion, and advise you regarding the process you will use toward attaining your goals. The proposal we present will will include allowances for changeable aspects of the project; if the allowance is exceeded, the difference is handled as an extra. As a simple example, let’s suppose that our bid allows for $600 for a 6 ft bathroom vanity ($100/ft). The vanity you pick out is $900 ($150/ft). The difference, $300 ($900-$600), is an extra, and will be added to your final bill.

What if we want to make changes to the proposal?

The proposal is only the beginning. It is expected that improvements/changes will be made throughout the planning and construction process. These changes are addressed by addenda to the contract. Minor changes may require no addendum, while major changes may require substantial changes to the projected budget.

Do I need architectural plans?

It depends on the scope of work on your project. Most construction jobs need architects plans and permits. We are happy to work with any architect you choose and assist with all permit needs.

What are your payment terms?

Typically we expect a deposit of 20%, and 3 – 5 payments throughout the construction process at predetermined intervals.

Who is responsible for permit applications and fees?

Paragon will complete the forms and apply for permits. Once permits are approved, the homeowner will pay the permit fees in their municipalities. Paragon will coordinate all inspections and permits for their own license and of their subcontractors. All other inspections, architectural, and engineering fees are paid by the owner or directed toward the third party entity.

What types of payments to do you accept?

We currently only accept cash or check as a form of payment. We can provide all necessary documentation for tax and property requests. If applicable we can work with your bank and provide financing options through a third party lender.

How long before work can start?

After plans are received, and permits have been issued, work can usually begin within two weeks.

How long will my job take?

Probably the most common question we encounter. Each job is different, so broad generalities are difficult. A bathroom replacement may take as little as 3 weeks, while an addition may take 3 months to complete. Paragon will give you a projected start date, as well as a projected completion date for your project, based upon the scope of the work required. For large townhouse renovations expect anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the scale and scope of work.

Who will supervise my job?

Depending on the scope of the project, there are a number of Paragon supervisory personnel that may be assigned to your whole job, or just different portions of it. All supervisors will be introduced to you as they become involved with your project. Certain projects require a city licensed superintendent to be on file and on site, in those cases we will provide that individual.

What types of people will be working on our home?

All of the individuals employed by Paragon are construction professionals. Our employees currently average 5 years with the company. Several of our employees have been with us for over ten years. Everyone has been trained in our standard build methods, and carry applicable state safety training certifications.

What if I have a problem, concern or a question during the project?

Paragon has a knowledgeable in-office staff that can resolve resolve any questions, or concerns you may have. They can be reached weekdays from 8:00 AM thru 4:00 PM.
After hour contact numbers can also be provided during the construction process. Our Project Managers and Sales teams are happy to provide cell phone numbers where they can reached at any time of day or night in case of an emergency. Simply put you’ll always have easy communication with the people managing your project.

Does Paragon use subcontractors?

Paragon personnel have expertise in many of the trades required for completion of your job. However for larger jobs, (e.g. Additions), portions of the work will be subcontracted (e.g. Electrical and Plumbing) for speed and efficiency. All coordination of the subcontractors will be handled by Paragon.

What if I want to use my own subcontractors?

Paragon will endeavor to support a client’s request regarding subcontractors, with the understanding that a particular subcontractor chosen by the customer may not have a working relationship with Paragon. This may cause delays if the chosen subcontractor’s other work interferes with the scheduling originally outlined in the proposal.

How is clean-up and removal of construction debris handled?

Clean-ups are made on a regular basis by Paragon employees. Construction debris are removed from the job site as soon as possible, depending on scheduling and carting services. Each project after completion will be professionally cleaned by Paragon employees or a third party cleaning service depending on the project scope.

After my project is complete, if I have a question, or a problem is Paragon available to me?

ABSOLUTELY! At Paragon, we are dedicated to our customers before, during, and AFTER their projects. We will do our best to help you through any concern you may have. Simply stated, we GUARANTEE our work for one year after completion of the project for workmanship. We undertand things may come up that require a revisit or a touch up, and we will be happy to get in the site and take care of it for you.
